The Bank of Korea announced it will no longer be accepting banknotes and coins from overseas, in an attempt to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
In a notice on its website, the central bank said it would no longer be accepting cash “introduced from abroad” until further notice. The central bank has also closed its currency museum as a precaution.
It is unclear if the Bank of Korea has plans to treat or replace banknotes and coins that may be carrying the virus.
