Mobile payments have taken off particularly quickly in many countries

An economist at the Bank for International Settlements proposes several reasons for the uneven adoption of fintech in a new working paper.

Jon Frost notes that available data on fintech adoption tends to show some countries adopting fintech faster, and some types of fintech, such as mobile payments, catching on more quickly.
