OK, This Watchmen Hand-Washing PSA Is Pretty Good

Hello, and welcome to a new edition of The Monitor, WIRED’s culture news roundup. Once again, the news coming out of the entertainment world largely focuses on the impact of the coronavirus. There is also some good news for fans of Killing Eve, though. Let’s jump right in.

OK, Who Does Wash the Washmen?

Look, we get it, there have been a lot of celebrity hand-washing PSAs since the coronavirus started spreading late last year. Yet, we’re going to talk about this one because, well, it’s from the cast of Watchmen. And it’s pretty stellar. Check out Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s calming smile! Bask in Tim Blake Nelson’s charming accent! Shudder at Regina King’s stern instructions! Look at Jean Smart’s bathroom! Then, after that, follow the advice of Red Scare (Andew Howard): “Wash your filthy hands, and stay the fuck home.”

Ryan Reynolds Might Star in a Live-Action Dragon’s Lair

Hey, remember Dragon’s Lair? If you’re under 30 and don’t watch Stranger Things you probably don’t, but that doesn’t mean Ryan Reynolds has forgotten the legendary arcade game. In fact, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s “in talks” to produce and star in an adaptation of the videogame for Netflix, which recently picked up the rights to it.

Disneyland and Walt Disney World Closed Indefinitely

After shutting their gates just two weeks ago amid coronavirus fears, Disney announced on Friday that it will close its flagship US parks—Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California—indefinitely. “While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of Covid-19, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees remains The Walt Disney Company’s top priority,” the company said in a statement. The company says it has been paying employees since the parks were closed and will continue to do so through April 18.

Actual Good News: Killing Eve Is Coming Back Early

Here’s a big update for fans of BBC America’s psycho-sexual dramedy Killing Eve: The show is returning two weeks early. Per the latest trailer for the show, the third season of the series will launch on April 12. The premiere will be simulcast on BBC America and AMC. “This season of Killing Eve digs deep psychologically, and with actors like Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw the results are nothing short of astonishing,” AMC Networks president Sarah Barnett said in a statement. “We literally couldn’t wait for fans to see it.”
