One of the two contenders to become the next UK prime minister promised to consider changes to the Bank of England’s mandate if she takes power.
Foreign secretary Liz Truss told a hustings event on August 3, “I want to change the Bank of England’s mandate to make sure in the future it matches some of the most effective central banks in the world at controlling inflation.”
